For thousands of years, cultures around the world have gathered around heat, water, and ritual. From the Finnish sauna to the Korean jjimjilbang, the Japanese onsen, the Turkish hammam, and the Roman baths, communal bathing traditions have long been places to restore the body, quiet the mind, and strengthen human connection.
Ceremony is Austin’s answer to those traditions.
We created our bathhouse to be a space where people could slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience a community made up of really cool and creative people. Every detail has been designed with that intention, from our traditional cedar saunas and invigorating cold plunges to our lush courtyard and indoor lounge filled with plants, artwork, and spaces to chill.
Creativity is one of our core values because we believe beauty nourishes us. Art awakens the imagination, nature calms the nervous system, and thoughtfully designed spaces heal our nervous systems. We want every visit to engage all of the senses, creating an environment that feels inspiring, restorative, and alive.
Unlike many spas, Ceremony is intentionally social. While you’re always welcome to enjoy quiet reflection, our bathhouse is designed to make connection feel natural. One of the things we hear most often from guests is, “I met the coolest people here.” Over the years, Ceremony has become a third place for many Austinites. It’s a welcoming gathering place outside of home and work where friendships are formed, conversations unfold, and the city’s creatives, healers, entrepreneurs, and curious souls regularly cross paths.

Austin’s Original Bathhouse
Bring a swimsuit and spend a couple of hours hanging out in south Austin’s original bathhouse. Outdoors includes an 8-person sauna, outdoor shower and cold plunge. Inside you’ll find a 16-person sauna, a second cold plunge, spacious showers, yoga mats, meditation cushions and a kitchen. Indoors and outdoors you’ll find comfortable spots to enjoy a cup of tea, journal, read, chat with friends or make new friends and relax.
Ceremony Spa features one of the most European-style communal bathhouses in town. With the recent addition of their new Finnish sauna and bathhouse, this newly renovated space boasts abundant natural light, lush indoor and outdoor plants, informative literature, herbal teas, invigorating indoor and outdoor cold plunges below 45°, and refreshing showers with organic soaps.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Park in our lot or anywhere in the surrounding Zilker neighborhood, then head inside where our warm and friendly team will welcome you at the front desk. We’ll check you in, provide a couple of plush towels, and give you a quick tour so you know exactly how everything works.
From there, the experience is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Move freely between our traditional cedar saunas and invigorating cold plunges, alternating heat and cold in whatever rhythm feels best for your body. Relax in our indoor and outdoor lounge spaces with a cup of tea, browse our library of thoughtfully curated books (with a special love for Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness), admire our rotating local art exhibitions, or simply settle into conversation with friends or with someone new.
Many guests choose to make a day of it by pairing their bathhouse visit with one of our award-nominated massage treatments. Our therapists have been nominated year after year by Austin Chronicle readers as some of the best in Austin, offering everything from deeply therapeutic bodywork to relaxing, restorative massage.
Or elevate your visit with one of our signature full-body scrubs, inspired by the Korean bathhouse tradition. Much like the famous Korean body scrubs found in jjimjilbangs and Korean spas, our scrubs use vigorous exfoliation to leave your skin incredibly soft while creating a refreshing, head-to-toe reset. It’s one of Ceremony’s most distinctive and beloved experiences.
