Our Story

Ceremony was born from a deep passion for both the healing arts and Austin’s vibrant creative culture. Founded by Asenath, who moved to Austin in 1994 to attend the University of Texas, the spa’s roots are intertwined with the city’s artistic and entrepreneurial spirit. In her 20s, Asenath spent her days writing and playing music while working in some of Austin’s legendary small businesses like The Hole in the Wall, The Continental Club, and the Texas Chili Parlor.

After transitioning into the healing arts, Asenath sought to bring her dream of supporting Austin’s creative community to life. On November 1, 2010, she opened the doors of Ceremony—originally known as WorkWell Austin—as a massage and acupuncture studio. Since then, Ceremony has evolved into much more than a spa. Today, it is a bathhouse, an art space, and a community hub that continues to focus on bodywork while expanding its offerings to support the holistic well-being of the Austin community.

With a mission to “help creative people attune to their highest potential through ancient, body-centered healing modalities,” Ceremony holds steadfast to its core values of warmth, creativity, empathy, and self-awareness. We are proud to be a part of the unique culture that makes Austin so special and look forward to continuing to grow as a pillar of health and creativity in the years to come.
